What it’s really all about

So I had a vision for this event.

It’s the middle of winter, and honestly, being in a hot Pilates class is my idea of heaven. I wanted to create an experience that felt warm, fun, and memorable for our community.

I’ve always loved Scout Studios, and I’m quite particular about where I host SPC events. The space has to reflect who we are - beautiful, welcoming, and with great amenities obviously. Somewhere where people naturally feel comfortable connecting.

I arrived early to set everything up: turned the heating on, got the music ready, stuck the SPC mirror decal in place, and laid out the goodie bags on each mat. There’s always that moment before everyone arrives where I’m both really excited and nervous, because I just want every little detail to feel right.

One of my favourite parts of every event is seeing familiar faces walk through the door alongside people I’ve only ever spoken to online. It’s wild to think that social media has introduced me to so many incredible people. From fellow instructors to people who have become genuine friends.

We kicked things off with an icebreaker, and within the first five minutes, strangers were introducing themselves, laughing together, and making plans to catch up after class. I ended up letting the icebreaker run a little longer because everyone was so busy chatting that getting their attention for class became almost impossible. (The best problem to have!!)

Btw, if you haven’t tried hot Pilates before, I’d highly recommend it! The energy in the room was absolutely electric.

After class, we held a mid-year gratitude workshop where everyone reflected on what they were grateful for this week before writing a letter to their future selves. I love this activity because it creates space to be honest about the challenges we’re facing right now while also giving ourselves permission to dream about where we want to be by the end of 2026.

It was a reminder for me that gratitude isn't just something we practice occasionally, but it shapes how we show up for ourselves and for the people around us every single day.

After the event, I received this message:

"Hi Taylor! Thank you so much for having me. I definitely want to join next time too! What I wanted to say is, the community you've built is so beautiful and inspiring. It was so clear how much heart you put into SPC. Can’t wait to come back for the next one."

Reading messages like this reminds me why I started SPC in the first place and if there’s one thing I’m taking away from this event, it’s that I want more time around the table! No phones. No distractions. Just good food and genuine conversation with our community.

Don’t get me wrong, Pilates will always be at the heart of what we do. But I’m realising the magic isn’t only in the movement.

So... stay tuned.

A sit-down dinner to celebrate SPC’s second birthday might just be next.

Taylor
